1. Request God’s promised grace in humble repentance
Psalm 51:1–4 Have mercy on me, O God, according to your steadfast love; according to your abundant mercy blot out my transgressions. Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin!
2. A passion for the church and compassion for the lost
Psalm 122:1-2 I was glad when they said to me, “Let us go to the house of the Lord!” Our feet have been standing within your gates, O Jerusalem!
3. Desire to know God more deeply
Psalm 63:1–3 O God, you are my God; I earnestly search for you. My soul thirsts for you; my whole body longs for you in this parched and weary land where there is no water. I have seen you in your sanctuary and gazed upon Your power and glory. Your unfailing love is better than life itself; how I praise you!
