Joy in Advancing the Gospel – Week 11 (Audio)
The Church is the hope of the world because we have been entrusted with the Gospel which literally means “good news.” The gospel message is the hope we find in what Jesus does for us by his saving grace. That is salvation that we do not earn or deserve. The gospel is also the hope of what Jesus is doing in us. That is growing to become more like him. It too is by his grace. Now we have the privilege of allowing the gospel work through us in profoundly touching other people.Paul’s letter to the Philippians overflows with his passion of advancing the gospel. His circumstance of prison and the threat of execution could not dampen his spirits. Everyone in prison seem to know about his message and many were convinced that following Jesus was the best way to live and the only way to die,even those of the palace guard.My hope is that our journey though Philippians will ignite in us that same passion of the gospel. Imagine the possibilities of God workingthrough us in making a difference in the world that is desperate for hope that will not disappoint them. I’m so glad to be a part of the church; aren’t you?
