Ephesians – Week 2
It is not uncommon in our culture to overuse words, wearing them out until they have little meaning left. “Blessing” is one of those words. Having a “blessed life” or “being blessed” is a common tag line to our lives when we feel like things are going well.
In the Apostle Paul’s introductory words in his letter to the Ephesian church, he arrests our overuse of words like “blessed” and “redeemed” with two simple words: In Him. With these words, Paul reorients our definition of “blessing” and roots it squarely in the person and work of Jesus Christ. The blessing that we share is Christ himself. This is the church.
