Ephesians – Week 12
Most of life happens in two places: home and work. Because of our brokenness, both environments can easily degrade into adversarial relationships where walls are built that, at the same time, protect us from harm and our selfish desires from attack.
The Bible has purposes altogether different for our work and home. Purposes of beauty and flourishing in all things. Walls prohibit the growth of both things. When walls come up in relationships, growth stops but sin flourishes. Again, we turn to the always applicable gospel truths of Ephesians. The cross of Jesus promises to demolish walls and restore flourishing to relationships entangled in sin. The cross also levels the ground on which we stand to redeem our lives – work and home – as instruments for the hope found in Jesus Christ.
