March 8, 2019
Greetings E-news Friends,
That is right! This Sunday begins Daylight Savings Time. Set your clocks up one hour before you go to bed. You do not want to be late for a very meaningful worship time this Sunday, including baptism each hour.
This Sunday: The Power in Following
We all have preferences, beliefs, traditions or areas of expertise that give us a sense of comfort, belonging, control and even power. In Mark 11:27-12:44 we see the power structures of Jesus’ opponents under pressure from Jesus’ teaching. The reality Jesus brings to bear on the religious leaders is crushing to the idols they’ve made of religion – and everyone is angry when the things they value more than God are threatened.
Through these seven stories, Jesus shows the judgment of unbelief and the freedom given to anyone (then and now) that values and follows Jesus above all else. Join us Sunday as we see the freedom and joy in the way of Jesus.
If you missed last Sunday, you can listen HERE.
Baptism - March 10
Baptism is a celebration and declaration of one’s step of faith to follow Jesus. In it we symbolize the reality to which baptism points—our death and resurrection in Christ. Believers baptism is intended for those who have professed their faith in Jesus Christ.
Have you been baptized since making a commitment to follow Jesus? It is one of the first ways to declare your faith. The New Testament is clear that “those who had received his word were baptized.” It is a beautiful and meaningful step of demonstrating publicly what Jesus has done inwardly in your life. It is an experience that can truly bless you and certainly glorify our Lord. If you have not been baptized, or have questions about baptism, sign up for the next class on baptism by clicking HERE.
Prayer Breakfast - March 30
As we spring forward with Easter on the horizon, there is nothing more important than for us to pray. S.D. Gordon once said, “The greatest thing anyone can do for God and man is to pray. It is not the only thing; but it is the chief thing. The great people of the earth today are the people who pray. I do not mean those who talk about prayer; nor those who say they believe in prayer; nor yet those who can explain about prayer; but I mean those people who take time to pray.” On Saturday morning March 30, we are going to take time to fervently pray for God’s power to be at work in and through our church. Make every effort to join us at 8:00-9:30 AM.

Premarital / Newly Married Class
Briarcliff Church’s premarital/newly married ministry is designed to give engaged and newly married couples a unique opportunity to learn, seek wisdom, and receive counsel about marriage in a safe, fun, challenging and authentic environment. Premarital/newly married ministry exists to prepare couples for marriage by addressing common challenges in marriage from a biblical perspective. The dynamics of the class include large group teaching time, small group table discussion and other interactive learning opportunities. Our next class will begin on Sunday April 28th after second service and will meet for six weeks. For more information or to register, click HERE.
Our mission at Briarcliff is to share the gospel, grow in community and serve others in a way that glorifies God. Small groups are a major part of growing in community. Find out more by clicking HERE.
Do you need to catch up?
These past few weeks have brought challenging weather and many of you have been unable to attend worship services. As a result, we fell 12.5% short on meeting our budget. A safe way to catch up or give when unable to attend is by on-line giving. You can make a one-time or recurring gift. You have been very faithful in giving and we are confident we will get caught up. To join others in giving on-line, click HERE.
Senior Night | March 22nd
We are thrilled about having our second Senior Night! All students who are seniors in high school are invited to the Stonecypher’s house on March 22nd at 6:30PM for a time of fellowship, games and s’mores! We hope to give Biblical wisdom to seniors as they take their next steps in their journey with Christ. Following the night, we will send parents an email on what was discussed and areas in which we feel the seniors might need encouragement.
