January 5, 2018

Greetings E-news Friends,

Forward 2018
The door to 2018 is now open before us. It is with great anticipation that we move forward through that door to experience all that God has in mind for us. This Sunday we will look at some of those possibilities for our church.

The bible doesn’t tell us much about the childhood of Jesus except that he grew in wisdom, stature and in favor with God and man. The word “grew” is very significant. It means to move forward as one blazing a trail into new territory. You will be challenged and inspired this Sunday as we look at moving forward into new territory. Come expecting God to open your eyes to new God-given territory. It will be exciting!!

Challenge Gift
You have generously responded to the challenge to match the $50,000 grant we received. At this point we have $48,613. Way to go!! Let’s break through the goal this Sunday.  Place your offering (up and above your regular giving) in an envelope and mark on it, “challenge.”

Exploring Faith
On Sunday, January 14 at 4:30 PM we will launch a six-week session designed for people who are not sure about God, the bible, Jesus, eternity, purpose of life, or the question of suffering. If you have a friend who is skeptical about Christianity, invite them to come with you.

Everyone believes something and believes it very strongly. The objective of our time together will be to lead people in thinking through what they believe, why they believe and on what they base their beliefs.  Register here for you and your friend(s).

Prayer is indispensable in knowing and fulfilling God’s vision for our church. Beginning in February 2018 we will launch weekly 8:00 AM Prayer Teams on Sundays. Here are the expectations for team members:

  2. Have a daily time alone with God each day in prayer and scripture reading.

  3. Pray daily for our church, leadership, and three unchurched people.

City Union Mission Dinners
In past years, our church has done a Christmas dinner for City Union Mission residents at our church. With our continued growth, and exceeding the fire code limits last year, we have opted to serve dinners at City Union Mission in January 2018. The first dinner will be on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at 5:00 PM at the City Union Mission Family Center and the second dinner the following Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at 5:30 PM and 7:30 PM at the City Union Mission Men’s Center.
